My 18th Birthday!
So a couple of days before my birthday, when I was still under the impression that I was going home in two days, my best friend and I were debating what to do for my birthday, like maybe go to the club, but then I would get tired fast. So we suggested going to the casino, but it was all smokey in there and all you did was lose your money. We weren't about to go to a strip club, and neither of us smoke. We came with the idea that we would go on a ...
I HAVE BEEN TRANSPLANTED!
So... it's been a while. Saturday morning (March 8th, 2014, day 39 on the list) I got a canvas from the hospital, and some paints. I painted a bunch of different hearts, all different sizes, colors and shapes. Some of them I colored in and some of them I didn't. None of them were colored the same as the outline and some of them overlapped. It was kind of early in the morning, so when the resident came in to do his usual assessment he said "Oh! ...
Weight Gain
I've always been very skinny and underweight. It's been a huge struggle for me to gain weight and keep it on. My average weight for about two years has been around 83 pounds. When I get admitted I am usually around 78 pounds, which mind you, is extremely low. Most of the time when I am in the hospital I gain a couple of pounds and I get to about 85 pounds. When I go home after gaining some weight, my jeans are tight. (Not too tight, but just the ...
Spending my Birthday in the Hospital?
A very important birthday of mine is coming up, and I will most likely have to spend it in the hospital. The only other time I have been in the hospital on my birthdays was my 7th birthday. I also got discharged that day, so it wasn't too bad, but if I spend this one in my birthday I will be here all day and all night. The other difference is the birthday when I was 7 was in a hospital that was 20 minutes away from my house, so all of my ...
Hospital Chronicles: 4
Boy have I been busy! What with all the meetings with reporters and newscasters, my life is shifting into fast drive. I knew, or at least I had hoped, that one day maybe this whole blog thing would take off and make an impact, but this is happening a lot faster than anticipated. Not saying that's a bad thing; it's a good thing actually. All of my doctors and all of the hospital staff has been so supportive and encouraging! I really couldn't have ...
Hospital Chronicles: 3
Oh what an interesting couple of days. What a mess. Where to start? How about I where I left off. About two days ago I was woken up by my RT to do my treatment. He had a person following him around that day as a shadow person, kind of like in training. There are certain settings to the way treatments are done, and one of them is that it pauses every five minutes. I don't like to do the pauses because when it pauses my muscles relax a bit ...
Hospital Chronicles: 2
I'm still in the hospital.. ugh :(. I have been her for two weeks and two days, and I will be here for another week, for sure, and maybe a noter week or two after that. It wouldn't be so bad if I was allowed to leave my room. I am trapped in this 12 by 12 room all day, everyday. Even prisoners in maximum security get an hour a day outside. What's happened since my last Hospital Chronicle post? Oh the shower incident! I wanted to take a shower ...
Hospital Chronicles: 1
So it's been an up and down hospital stay, just as they all are. I was airlifted here in the helicopter and put into the ICU. The only other time I had been in the ICU was for one night because they were initiating my bi-pap, which hospital policy states it needs to be done in the ICU, not because I was so sick that I needed to be there. Since this was the first time requiring to be in the ICU it kind of hit me exactly how sick I actually am. ...
